Events for the 2011 Season
Our 2012 programme will be available shortly. You may like to see what events took place over the past year. We expect to run a similar programme this year.

START OF TEAM MATCHES
Please use hard courts for this first week.
Sunday 1st May
OPENING OF GRASS COURT SEASON
Club tennis and tea beginning at 2 p.m. We hope that lots of members, especially those who have joined recently, will try and make it down to the club to play on the grass courts. This social event is suitable for all standards of play. Please bring afternoon tea to share.
Sunday 1st May and Monday 2nd May
SPECIAL JUNIOR EVENT WEEKEND
This is a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to come and learn to play tennis or improve their game. Our excellent coach, James McNally, and his assistant, Sophie, will be providing an introduction to the game with coaching, fitness and fun, as well as help and advice for those who wish to improve. James is planning the following free sessions:
SUNDAY 10 am or MONDAY 12 noon for primary school pupils and
SUNDAY 11 am or MONDAY 1 pm for secondary school pupils.

SOCIAL TENNIS
Start of Wednesday evening organised social tennis 6.30 p.m. This will take place every Wednesday except on special Wednesdays as listed. Please contact Keith Soothill by email Keith.Soothill@btinternet.com or tel. 01524 64563 by 6.30 pm on the Sunday before you wish to play.

JUNIOR COACHING
with James McNally. James is planning an eight week course, starting from this date. Times are as follows for the different age groups:
5 – 5.45 pm for 5 – 8 years
5.45 – 6.30 pm for 8 – 11 years
Another session for 12+ years may be held on Fridays. For further details contact Alex, John or James as above.

ADULT COACHING
Start of adult coaching session for 6 – 8 weeks. Contact John Braithwaite as above.
Sunday 8th May
MIXING-IN AFTERNOON
2 p.m. This will be our main event for encouraging new people to come and have a look at the club. Open to members, friends and anyone who is interested in taking up tennis and/or in joining our club. We hope to attract lots of new members so do bring along a friend or three who may be interested. Non-members and friends invited to all mixing – in Sundays. Please bring afternoon tea to share.

SPEED TENNIS
6.30 p.m. A fun social evening of fast action tennis for all members. A bit like speed dating only with tennis racquets! Please let Keith know if you would like to play – as for social tennis above.

WIMBLEDON SUNDAY
at the ‘Wimbledon of the North’. Open day of tennis at Lunesdale to celebrate Wimbledon Fortnight. All welcome. Starting 2 pm. Please bring special tea to share. Details to follow!

Saturday 10th July
REMBRANDT TROPHY OPEN TOURNAMENT
11 a.m. This is our annual mixed Open played on the grass. All players over 16 welcome. We hope to have lots of our own members and players from other invited clubs in the area competing for this trophy. Please bring something for lunch. Refreshments provided. Entry fee £10 per couple. Forms will be sent out in the near future or are available in the clubhouse, or contact Carole Webb at carolewebb@hotmail.com or 015242 22202.

2 p.m. Do come and join in this special day of tennis. Our captain, Heather Willes, will be hosting the afternoon. Please bring tea to share.
Saturday 3rd September
FINALS DAY CLUB TOURNAMENT
at 2 p.m. The best of the best meet on the grass! Come and support your club members as they compete for the coveted club trophies. Please bring tea to share. If wet, it will be held on Sunday 4th Sept.
Saturday 17th September
INVITATION TOURNAMENT
This will be played on the hard courts. Invited players, some of the best in the area, compete for the coveted prize. We hope members will come and support and see some great tennis. The competition starts at 10 am on Saturday 17th September and the final is expected at around 12.30 pm. Followed by a Jacob’s Join lunch and then Speed Tennis at 2 pm. Saturday 1st October
CLUB DINNER
and presentation of trophies. The Club Dinner is to be held on Saturday 1st October at the Lunesdale Arms, Tunstall. 7.30 for 8 pm. We hope all our members will come and enjoy the good company, a delicious three course meal, coffee/tea and presentation of trophies.
Cost is £23.50 per person.
